Someday it will Be Too late

A lot of people online like to say “It’s never too late.”
And while that’s mostly true, it’s a very dangerous attitude to embrace.

Yes, Ray Kroc didn’t start McDonald’s until he was 52.
KFC founder Harland Sanders didn’t find success until he was 62.
Julia Child wrote her first cookbook at 50.

So what.

An extremely small percentage of people in the history of our planet have managed to accomplish great things much later in life.

Do you really think you’re going to join that exclusive club?

Hell no.

What’s really going to happen — instead of using that as motivation, most people will think, “See, I still have time.”

And then never start.

Guess what?
You don’t have any more time.

That fallacy “It’s never too late” does more harm than good for most people.

The reality is you should act as if you don’t have more time.

The time to start is right now.

Not later today.
Not tomorrow.
Not next week.
Not “When you feel like it.”

The time is now.

The longer you delay, the less likely you will ever start.

And all that potential …
… all those hope and dreams …
will never happen.

And that’s a real shame.

Because I truly believe each and every one of us has way more potential and ability than we give ourselves credit for.

But we constantly procrastinate.
We take the easy way out.
We choose quick dopamine hits over discipline.
And tell ourselves, “It’s okay if I have this bag of chips. I’ll start tomorrow.”
Or, “It’s okay if I don’t do my workout today, one day won’t hurt me.”
Or, “I don’t feel like making music, or writing, or creating art — when inspiration hits, I’ll get back to it.”

And one day turns into two.
And then a week.
And then a month.
And then another year of potential is wasted and you wonder why you’re not getting anywhere in life.

The truth.

All of those daily micro decisions add up.
And if you make too many excuses, they add up to the life you currently find yourself in.

And then you wonder why you’re overweight & out of shape & depressed.
And this feeling in your gut knows something isn’t right.

We’re all meant to do so much more in life.

Yet so many of us squander our potential.

Wasting time on doom scrolling social media.
Binge watching TV.
Eating fake, processed food.

Almost all of us know what we “should” do and what we “need” to do.

It’s not complicated.
But it is hard.

That voice inside is constantly trying to derail our progress.

It’s okay if you don’t do this today.
It’s okay if you eat that.
It’s okay if you spend the whole weekend “relaxing” and “recovering” from the week.
It’s okay if you get drunk tonight.
It’s okay if you hookup with some rando.

There’s always tomorrow.

Until you’re so far gone — there isn’t.

Every day is a gift.

Every day is an opportunity to grow and get better.

But.

It takes time.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.
And neither is the body of your dreams.
The book you want to write.
The album you want to record.

But you MUST make progress every day.

Work.
Take action.
Be relentless.

Stay focused.
Keep your eye on your goals at all time.
No more excuses.

And most importantly — BELIEVE.

Believe your dreams are possible.
No matter how crazy they seem.

And don’t share with others.

No need for any potential negativity or doubt in your life.

Don’t give up.

Be impatiently patient.
Impatient to work fast and hard.
Patient to know results take time.

Track your progress.

Adapt as needed.

And ENJOY the JOURNEY.

Because at the end of the day, there is no true finish line.
Except death.

There is always more to learn.
You can always get better.
Be a student, no matter what your goals or profession is.

NEVER QUIT.

Because some day, it WILL be too late.

And most importantly — ignore the doomers.
Life is great.
Today is the best day ever and tomorrow is going to be even better.

Until next time,

— your man,

Chon
